This pét-nat is produced in the Finger Lakes of New York. I love to describe this wine as a Kombucha with a kick! With only 10% alcohol and natural bottle fermentation, it’s the perfect wine for making any celebrated toasts!
Short for petillant naturel, it’s a wine produced in the methode ancestrale method which pre-dates methode champenoise (or classic method). The wine finishes fermenting in the bottle after it’s encapsulated, hence capturing the gases and creating bubbles.
Nothing is added to this wine, it’s completely natural, left unfiltered and undisgorged.
What is Pet nat??? Pet nats are generally low-alcohol, easy to drink, and can be red, white, or rose.
Cayuga is a French-American hybrid created at Cornell University, that grows particularly well in the Finger Lakes, as it’s very resistant to frost and cold weather. It produces fruit forward wines, not unlike Riesling, with anything from green apple flavors to more tropical fruit.
Barry Family Cellars is a small production facility founded by a father-son team, Ken and Ian Barry. making big quality wines. Established in 2011 as one of the first ‘micro-wineries’ in New York State, Barry Family Cellars released their first wines in 2014. They focus on making vinifera wines and work with local growers to highlight the individual vineyards.
Their wines are made with minimal manipulation often unfined and unfiltered and always Vegan.
