Kairos is a long whole-bunch carbonic maceration of 50/50 Grenache and Syrah. Following this juicy fermentation style, the wine is pressed to demi-muid for a 9-month élevage. This process provides great balance to the wine; the spicy, cherry fruit is vibrant and upfront and the time in barrel lends a dark bitterness. As usual with La Vrille wines, there is a lovely herbaceous quality at play, and an almond-y complexity has started to develop. Delicious, immediate wine and such fantastic value. Less that 1500 bottles were made.
Ardèche is one of France's lesser-known regions, situated west of the Rhône River and north of Provence. Some exciting winemakers are working here, and Méryl and Géraldine Croizier of "La Vrille et le Papillon" can certainly be counted among them. The grape clusters are left whole during the fermentation process. The wine undergoes carbonic maceration for one week. This 100% Grenache is very easy to drink and well balanced.
