The grapes for our 2018 Chenin Blanc were sourced from the Sani Vineyard, a 2-acre block of dry-farmed Chenin Blanc in Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley, planted in 1981. This vineyard is cared for by the 4th and 5th generation winegrowers from the Saini Family.
The wine was fermented with native yeast and aged in neutral cask. After 11 months the wine was bottled with the minimum effective Sulfur addition. Two puncheons and Eight barrels were produced.
Leo Hansen, the winemaker at Leo Steen Wines inspired us to make Chenin Blanc. Leo made it possible for us to source grapes from this incredible site; he encouraged us to take the leap of faith. We drew inspiration for the name of this wine from Søren Aabye Kierkegaard—considered to be the first existentialist philosopher—who was a Danish social critic, theologian and poet.
